A door-slamming, lie and Rumor-juggling comedy in which a fancy anniversary party goes gloriously off the rails before the hors d’oeuvres even have a chance.
When guests arrive at the elegant home of New York deputy mayor Charley Brock, they discover a scene that is equal parts scandal and absurdity: Charley has suffered a very inconvenient gunshot wound, his wife has vanished, the servants are nowhere to be found, and absolutely nobody has a sensible plan. In a in a desperate attempt to avoid public humiliation, four affluent couples pile one wild misunderstanding on top of another, inventing cover stories faster than they can remember them.
The result is a champagne-fizzy farce full of panic, gossip, bickering, and comic catastrophe—where every attempt to fix the evening only makes it funnier.
