Norm Foster: The Playwright Extraordinaire
Celebrated as one of Canada’s most prolific playwrights, Norm Foster brings his unique blend of humor and heart to The Long Weekend. With over 40 years of experience, Norm has penned nearly 70 plays that capture the extraordinary in everyday life. When he’s not writing, Norm enjoys BBQing burgers, cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and visiting his children in Toronto. His advice to his younger self? "Don’t be a jerk. Nobody likes a jerk."
Anita la Selva: The Director with a Vision
Anita la Selva, with over 30 years in the arts, brings her sharp eye and storytelling expertise to direct The Long Weekend. Anita loves Alberta’s mountains and is a fan of surf and turf BBQs. When she’s not directing, she’s reading The Brain that Changes Itself or hiking in nature. Anita’s wisdom for her younger self? "Forge your own path. Don’t wait for someone to do it for you."
Tom Lea: The Creative Visionary
With 31 years of expertise, Tom Lea has turned Cow Patti’s stage into a visual masterpiece. This season, Tom’s design for The Long Weekend showcases his talent for bringing stories to life. Outside of the theatre, Tom loves camping with AnnaMarie, BBQing pork, and enjoying Alberta’s big skies. His favorite quote from a Norm Foster play? "Wait, nobody move! My genitals just dropped off and I don’t want them getting stepped on!"
Louise Dean: The Heart of the Front of House
Ensuring every guest feels welcome, Louise Dean manages the Front of House with grace and expertise. After 11 years in the business, Louise’s favorite thing about Alberta is its wide-open spaces. A camping enthusiast, she loves relaxing by the campfire and reading books like Wreck & Ruin by Emma Slate. Her advice to her younger self? "There’s always time to make money, but only a short time to make memories."
Donna Robinson: The Culinary Wizard
Donna Grambo keeps the administrative wheels turning at Cow Patti Theatre. She thrives on teamwork and the satisfaction of a job well done. When she’s not at the theatre, Donna enjoys hiking with her dog, reading Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, and watching Only Murders in the Building. Her advice to her younger self? "Don’t overthink things—just go for it!"
Katherine Hunter: The Organized Perfectionist
With only two years in the business, Katherine Hunter’s passion and precision shine as the Stage Manager for The Long Weekend. Katherine spends her long weekends hiking outside Toronto or cooking dinner for friends. Known for her "killer pulled pork," she loves the mountains and cowboy hats Alberta offers. Her favorite wisdom? "Listen to your mother when she says the pot of boiling water is hot. You will burn yourself."
